Sheena Zadeh is the founder and CEO of clean beauty brand Kosas. Zadeh’s love of chemistry and ingredient formulation drove her to obtain a university degree in biological sciences. She was inspired to launch Kosas in 2015 after studying colour theory in a portrait painting class, which led her to mix colours to create an ideal lip shade. The name Kosas refers to the Eastern philosophy of the five layers of the self — the idea behind the brand is that there is more to beauty than what lies on the surface. Taking inspiration from her colourful, free-spirited upbringing in 1990s Southern California, Zadeh’s ultimate goal is for Kosas to help people feel comfortable and confident.
